Support Needed to Sustain Our Mission

 Our Emergency Veterinary Funding Assistance Program (EVFAP) is the heart of our work and the program that started it all. We provide emergency veterinary funding for qualifying pet owners across Maui County, helping families access urgent care when they would otherwise be forced to delay or forgo treatment due to financial hardship. By stepping in during critical moments, we help keep pets with the families who love them, improving outcomes for both animals and their people.

This program fills a vital gap in Maui’s animal welfare system. It supports veterinarians and their teams by reducing the number of cases where care must be declined for financial reasons, and it helps ease the strain on the Maui Humane Society and other resources by preventing unnecessary surrenders. EVFAP exists because this need was not being met, and it continues to serve as a compassionate, community-centered solution for pets in crisis.

tEACH is our proactive, interactive, education-based approach to addressing the root causes behind many of the emergency cases we see. By focusing on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay and neuter, vaccinations, and routine preventive care, tEACH helps reduce overbreeding, overpopulation, and avoidable medical crises before they happen.

In many ways, it’s our version of a “reduce, reuse, recycle” mindset for animal welfare. When people have the knowledge and tools to care for their pets properly from the start, it leads to fewer emergencies, fewer surrenders, and healthier outcomes for both pets and their families.

rEACH is our community-driven outreach initiative focused on strengthening connection, communication, and collaboration across Maui’s animal welfare network. We actively build and maintain relationships with veterinary clinics, rescues, nonprofits, and resource providers island-wide, creating a growing, centralized hub of information that helps ensure no call for help goes unanswered. Through our website and resource network, we are working to make it easier for both the public and professionals to find the right support, when and where it’s needed.

We also facilitate an annual meet-up, the Maui Animal Resource Meet-Up (MARMU) that brings the animal welfare community together to share resources, discuss best practices, and foster meaningful collaboration. 

At a time when many organizations are navigating limited funding and increased demand, rEACH helps bridge gaps, encourage communication between providers, and support a more unified, effective system of care for Maui’s animals and the people who love them.
