Some of our success stories and testimonials

Mango

Mango

Mango

Mango was a Lahaina survivor that was adopted by a family of two teachers and their two daughters here on Maui. Unfortunately he kept having hip problems and needed surgery. They had already put so much into his care with his broken hip and were at a loss. They reached out to the Kitty Charm Farm who reached out to EACH. After tirelessly trying to find funding, and looking into various veterinarians, EACH was able to provide what was needed to finally get him taken care of. He is now healing and providing cuddles to his happy family.

Gray

Mango

Mango

Gray's mom reached out to us frantic. They were Lahaina residents that had to go off island and boarded Gray at a Maui cat boarder until they could rebuild and go home. Unfortunately Gray became blocked and needed emergency intervention. The caregiver took him in and EACH was able to fund the needed treatment so Gray could be healthy and happy while awaiting for his ohana to return.

Ozzy

Ozzy

"Today, not even a week post opp Ozzy was back to school drop offs.

This procedure has given our boy a second life. One that would have been cut short had it not been for Ayla + E.A.C.H. This non-profit helps saves lives and keep families together. A cause that deserves any and all resources available. Thank you for seeing his worth. He isn’t just a dog. He’s OHANA. 🤎"

Goose

Goose

" Sweet Goose boy went through the Lahaina Fires Evacuation then was fostered while his family was in temporary housing, a few months after his family settled into their new permanent housing, he experienced a urinary blockage so severe that surgery and a long hospitalization was needed to save him. At only 3 years old and after just suffering the loss of their jobs and home, Gooses family reached out to EACH for financial support and was met with love, compassion and support.

Goose is now 7 months post operation and life-saving surgery and he's happy, healthy and living his best life, lounging in the sun all day.

We're so grateful for the emotional and financial support that EACH provided our Ohana. <3"

Puhi

Goose

The Maui fires of August 2023 caused well-known havoc in Lahaina, but upcountry in Kula there was tragedy as well. Deer, spooked by the flames, jumped into Puhi's territory, where she was injured and her mom, who works for a local Hawaiian charity, could not afford the nearly $7000 in medical bills. With the help of EACH, Puhi was able to receive the medical care she needed and is happy and healing. We hope she continues bringing love and laughter to her family's lives for years to come!

Poppy

Poppy

"This 11-year-old girl is a miracle! Poppy became extremely ill and dehydrated. I found her in the morning hardly able to walk with her legs shaking. I gave her fluids and a sweet potato smoothie throughout the day. By 5pm she could not stand up and I noticed her eyes started to shake back and forth (Nystagmus) a really scary thing to see because it means the body is crashing. I had been giving her B complex shots throughout the day so was surprised to see this happening so quick. I called the vet emergency line and the doctor on call started to drive out. I ran inside and grabbed honey. I put about a Tablespoon in Poppys mouth and her eyes stopped shaking within a minute. I just held her and prayed. The last time I had a girl crash it was too late by the time the vet arrived. Makawao vet has been so amazing. Within 20 minutes the vet arrived and started the IV with thiamine and then 2 Liters of fluids. I did not expect Poppy to pull through since she was hypothermic at 92 degrees (101.5 is normal). I stayed up all night to make sure the 2 heating pads and blankets stayed on her. I also gave her more IV fluids in the middle of the night and at 6am. By the morning, her temperature normalized. Throughout day 2 and 3 I still did not believe she would pull through. She still was not getting up and not eating. I continued to drench her with sweet potato smoothies for 3 days. On day four I accidentally gave her four liters of IV fluids. I was so exhausted and was planning on 2.5 liters. Well somehow in my exhaustion the 4 liters ended up being what she needed because she ripped a piece of banana leaf out of my hand around 8pm that night. I was completely surprised and stunned. Over the next 24 hours she slowly started eating. She even stood up with wobbly legs. She really didn't start walking until day 6.

She started doing really well around day 10 and I knew she would make a complete recovery. I'm still so surprised and so grateful. Poppy is doing so great her arthritis is not really bothering her. She still gets her supplements every day and fresh cut food 3-4x per day. Such a sweet girl! So grateful for EACH and their help with Poppys Vet Bill. It is such a huge relief to have help! Thank you."

Koda

"6 years ago we decided we were going to stay in my hometown of Lahaina. I turned to my husband as we drove across the Pali and informed him ‘you know if we aren't moving I want a dog.’

He scoffed and said ‘well you’ll have to pray for one’

So, I did right then and there. A lab mix I could run with.

Two days later we were at dinner when a family acquaintance asked if anyone wanted a puppy. He said he’d won a silent auction but didn’t really want another dog. I asked what type, and he said the pups were lab/husky mixes and that I could have the first pick of the litter.

That was the start of our lives with Koda.

He’s been my constant buddy through changes, babies, moving. All of it.

In August 2023 we fled our family home and the only town I’ve called home burned. Thankfully our family got out, but we couldn’t go home. Shortly after the fire we were thrilled, though shocked, to find out we had been newly pregnant with a third baby. Life was overwhelming as you can imagine. For example, there was a 6 month stretch we were living in a studio hotel room with no kitchen, two toddlers, pregnant, and a 90lb dog. I would pack up the girls and Koda and waddle my pregnant self down to the lobby and out on our walks.

Finally, after life flipping upside down, moves and juggling a new born, we moved into our very own 360ft tiny house. Val built a big lanai, and we could finally settle into our new normal. It seemed we had made it through, together and intact.

But then Koda stopped eating. I wondered if it was from all the changes. I took him to our vet and they found a mass. After further testing we were told we had to do a surgery or his quality of life would start to decline. Potentially rapidly.

I thought this might be the end of our journey together. A journey we had fought so hard to get through.

Koda’s an amazing dog. Gentle, loyal, easy going. The kind of dog that will lay at your feet because he simply wants to be near you. We were heart broken. We’d done all we could to keep him with us and it seemed our efforts may of been in vain.

But then someone suggested a new organization on island, E.A.C.H.

I called with not much hope but Ayla answered the phone and told us they could cover a portion of the surgery! After so much loss it was enough to get the wind back in our sails and keep going. Taking things step by step. I’m hopeful that we will have many more years with Koda and I’m grateful to E.A.C.H for making this possible… "

Charlie

"My name is Isabelle, I recently had a cat who came to us with a broken back leg, first we took him to the Humane Society because they said they would help, but then I learned really fast that they weren’t going to do what we were hoping for so we decided to take him to Animal Care and Wellness Hospital in Kula. There they did x rays and they evaluated the cat to see what they could do, quickly after that, Charlie was scheduled for a major surgery that he desperately needed!! We were scared due to the fact that we lost everything in the Lahaina fire and we couldn’t possibly take on this large bill for his care, then I was introduced to Ayla at Emergency Animal Care & Help, a non profit organization who does help with cost of care needed. The surgeon already had given us an amazing discount and we are grateful, when I told Ayla she didn’t hesitate and said they would be able to cover the whole amount, and I was so happy for the help much needed at this time, I absolutely recommend EACH to anyone because they are fast and eager to do everything they could to help. Because of their kindness, Charlie will be able to heal, and have his leg back to normal, and this is just so rewarding. We are forever grateful for EACH."

Lilikoi

Lilikoi, as many small dogs do, thought she was stronger and tougher than almost anything. She also she believed she was faster than the motorized scooter that she unfortunately went under. Both front and back tires caught this beautiful chihuahua/dachsund mix and for a few days before reaching out to EACH, Lilikoi would eat, but she would cry if she was moved.

Lilikoi's mom reached out to EACH because, as a new mom, she was struggling to figure out how to pay for the x-rays and exams needed to even figure out what was wrong. We were able to work with the Makawao Veterinary Clinic to not only figure out what was going on, but to get her the treatment she needed. This lucky little lady is on the mend and is now getting sweet love from her 10-month-old human big sister.

"Thank you so much to E.A.C.H

We really appreciate the program coming through and saving our dog

My dog had a really bad infection, called Pyometra

We took her into the vet to have emergency surgery, but the bill was so high, and my family couldn't afford

Tried to seek help everywhere, but everyone turned us away

To our surprise, the Humane Society and E.A.C.H program reached out to us offering help

Thanks to them. My dog is home.

 happy and healthy

We want to thank them from the bottom of the heart

Thank you for being available to help my family and others in our community."

Ali

Ali, and 8-year-old frenchie/bull mix, was diagnosed with pyometra. Her family was beside themselves being faced with a huge vet bill to treat her and keep her alive. EACH supplemented the cost and Ali stayed with her family.

"Thank you very much for all the help. Ali and I really appreciate it."
