The First Maui Pets 101 - At the YMCA Westside Resource Cent

Set Up

Here is Ayla setting up for the fun! Not only was there education for the keiki, but parents and others were given resource lists and information from a variety of animal organizations for all over Maui

Participation

This wasn't just a lecture, but an interactive way to learn about Maui pet laws and how to be a responsible pet owner. The kids had a blast interacting with the many educational toys and games.

The Star of the Show

Rocky's appearance was so much fun! Everyone learned about cats, and dogs, but also unique pets and how each one has its own unique needs. It was especially fun to see Rocky break through everyone's slippahs!

Success!

At the end of the day we realized everyone had learned something new. EACH got great feedback and suggestions about bringing Maui Pets 101 into local schools. All-in-all it was a success, and the lessons learned may reverberate throughout the community and help many Maui families and animals to come. We can't wait for the next one!

THE MAUI VISITOR INDUSTRY CHARITY WALK

EACH was chosen as a beneficiary of the Maui Visitor Industry Charity Walk. We exceeded our goal and raised over $1200!

The Charity Walk, founded in 1974 and expanded statewide in 1978, is now Hawai‘i’s largest single-day fundraising event by a non-profit organization. This year the Charity Walk raised over $1.6M and benefitted over 65 Maui charities including EACH!

Spearheaded by the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association and its non-profit arm Hawaii Hotel Industry Foundation, the Charity Walk is traditionally held every May on Hawai‘i, Kauaʻi, Lāna‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i, and O‘ahu. Money raised on each island or county stays there.

Since MHLA started hosting the Charity Walk in 1980, they have raised a cumulative total of $19 million in Maui.

It was a BLAST! Everyone who went really enjoyed the amazing weather and vibe. Keep a look out for next year's walk!

MARMU 2025: A Milestone for Maui’s Animal Resource Community

Even with the rain in Haiku, the first-ever Maui Animal Resource Meet-Up (MARMU) was a resounding success. Hosted at the beautiful Kitty Charm Farm, the event brought together representatives from some of Maui’s most important animal welfare organizations, including The Boo Boo Zoo, Maui Humane Society, Valley Isle Animal Rescue, Lana'i Cat Sanctuary, and even newer organizations like Aloha Furever Pets.

For many, it was the first time meeting face-to-face after years of collaborating through referrals and shared clients. The connections made that day were powerful and long overdue.

EACH’s mission is to provide resources for low-income households of Maui to care for their beloved pets. While some of these resources are direct financial assistance, others come from community partnerships and education. MARMU embodied that mission by strengthening relationships among those who serve Maui’s animals every day.

The conversations were full of energy, inspiration, and shared purpose. Attendees discussed new ways to collaborate, improve referral systems, and even organize quarterly mini meet-ups to keep the momentum going.

The response was clear: MARMU must become an annual event. EACH is thrilled to make that a reality and continue fostering this spirit of unity and cooperation across the island.

If you would like to contribute, or if you know of a venue or organization interested in sponsoring or supporting future MARMU gatherings, please reach out to us. Together, we can accomplish so much more for Maui’s animals and the people who love them.

    Support MARMU

Your donation will help sponsor this annual event that facilitates all animal resources of Maui County coming together to strengthen the impact we can make together.
